My friend sent me the message last week, ‘wanna go for fro-yo?’ Now that’s a request I’ve not had in Maputo before. Never one to decline girly time, I followed the directions, turning the corner from FEIMA, onto Paulo Samuel Kankhomba, and then stepping seemingly into a Cape Town street café, with all the colourful, eclectic charm and elegance that we associate with the vibrant seaside city.
Chatham House, the highly reputable British think-tank on international development was the stage for the launch of the book ‘The battle for Mozambique: the Frelimo-Renamo struggle, 1977-1992’ by Stephen A. Emerson which addresses the post-independence civil war that was waged between 1977 and 1992 in Mozambique.
