Record TV wins Mozambique broadcast accolade

(2011-11-30) Record TV, also known as Miramar TV, has been awarded the best free to air television channel at the 3rd Mozambique Best Brands (MMM) ceremony in Maputo.

Accepting the award at the southern African capital's Polana Hotel, Marcelo Cardoso, chief executive, Record TV International, Europe, Africa and Asia said: 'This award is very important because it was not given by private entities or voted by a closed group but by the Mozambican people who elected TV Record as the best TV station in the country."

The annual awards reflect public opinion in the country, following brand research by Germany's GFK market research institute.

"We analysed 266 brands covering 32 sectors and the research was based on the opinion that really matters to all of us: the Mozambicans," said Luis Couto, GFK Intercampus Managing Director, who presented the award to Record TV.

As well as the state broadcaster, Televisão de Moçambique (TVM), Miramar TV / Record TV is among a number of Portuguese language channels in Mozambique which include Soico TV (STV), Televisão Independente de Moçambique (TIM), SIC Noticias and Internacional, RTP International, RTP Africa, TV Globo, Euronews, MTV Portugal and Televisão Popular de Angola.
