Mozambican Parliament to build three million dollar house, spend US$7,366 a month per MP - AIM

The Mozambican Parliament has just given its 250 deputies a "salary raise of 21.75 percent" in the basic salary, by AIM's estimate.It intends to spend 40 million meticais (around US$1.3 M) building a new residence for the chairperson of the Assembly (currently Verónica Macamo). State owned news agency reports that each deputy will receive an average ‘basic’ salary of almost 108,000 meticais (around US$3,223), which "may more than double," once all the ‘allowances’ are included, to an average US$7,366 a month per MP. Jaipur auction of low-quality rubies from Montepuez Ruby Mine raises $16.1m

The latest auction of predominantly lower-quality ruby and corundum mined at Aim-listed Gemfields’ 75%-owned Montepuez mine, in Mozambique, has generated revenues of $16.1-million. About 40 companies attended the auction, which was held in Jaipur, India, from April 17 to 22.
